Industry leaders gather to exchange ideas and innovations —
At the 8th Mediterranean Ports and Shipping Exhibition and Conference, Solvo showcased its comprehensive IT solutions for automating logistics across sea and dry ports, cargo terminals, and rail hubs.
The two-day event brought together 30 industry-leading speakers and over 150 senior government officials, port and terminal executives, academics, logistics providers, shippers, and tech companies from across the Mediterranean.
A port visit that inspires solutions
As part of the conference, participants visited the Port of Valencia. For the Solvo team, such visits are an invaluable opportunity: to stay in tune with modern port operations and spot firsthand how digital technologies can solve real-world challenges.
High-level interest from key players
Visitors at the Solvo stand discovered how Solvo.TOS, in tandem with the Solvo.SCE platform, powers a unified digital ecosystem for end-to-end terminal management and seamless supply chain integration.
Notable figures such as Aurelio Martínez (President of the Port Authority of Valencia), Lluís París (Commercial Manager of the Port of Barcelona), and other top representatives expressed strong interest in Solvo’s solutions.
Arcadi España, Spain’s Regional Minister of Territorial Policy, Infrastructure, and Mobility, opened the event by emphasizing the Port of Valencia’s sustainability priorities — especially increasing freight rail share. As ports grow and diversify, he noted, they need flexible automation tools to match.
Solvo.TOS meets this need by managing vessel, rail, and truck operations in a single digital environment. It integrates smoothly with other terminal systems, equipment, logistics partners, and contractors.
A case in point: Antwerp Euroterminal
Giovanni Migliaccio, Vice President Sales & Marketing at SOLVO Europe, highlighted this capability in his presentation, “A Single Digital Ecosystem for Terminal Management as Part of the Global Supply Chain.” He demonstrated how Solvo.TOS powers all operational processes at Antwerp Euroterminal (AET), the largest multipurpose terminal in the Port of Antwerp.
Solvo.TOS handles a wide range of cargo types at AET: general cargo, Ro-Ro, bulk (fertilizers, grain, pallets), bagged goods (cocoa, sugar, rice), construction materials, lumber, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, perishables, paper, pulp, metal scrap, machinery — and, of course, containers. Whether dispatching via ship, train, or truck, the system streamlines operations from planning to execution.
Migliaccio emphasized that modern terminals need flexibility, customization, and responsiveness — capabilities built into Solvo.TOS. As he noted, “Automation systems must keep up with a world in constant motion.”
Technology in action
Other conference participants also shared innovations in automation, IT, and equipment — many of which can be integrated into Solvo’s ecosystem.
The event wrapped up with a hands-on simulation that challenged participants to coordinate a cargo movement process with maximum accuracy and timing — an engaging demonstration of how the right automation tools can optimize even the most complex logistics flows.
