Revolutionize Your Dairy Warehouse: Boost Efficiency With Solvo.WMS Automation

The main challenges faced by warehouses in the food production industry:

  • Managing remaining shelf life (FIFO/FEFO).
  • Customer requirements for product shelf life.
  • Controlling storage temperature conditions.
  • Inventory management and product quality control.
  • Compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Reverse logistics (handling dairy product returns and reducing such cases).

How does a modern WMS solve these issues? Let’s take a look at the case of one of our clients – a company with a dairy product warehouse.

The warehouse facilities of our client include a finished goods warehouse (2,000 m²) and a raw materials warehouse (1,152 m²). The company’s production capacity is 230 tons of raw milk processed per day. The production also specializes in thick and drinking yogurts. The finished goods are transferred from production to the warehouse using automated conveyors, where a robot automatically places the products onto pallets.. The warehouse utilizes both shelving and floor storage systems. Products are stored on pallets, in boxes, and individually. Warehouse equipment such as electric forklifts, stackers, and trolleys is used.

Solvo.WMS has automated the following processes:

  • Receiving finished goods, raw materials, and ingredients in both company’s warehouses.
  • Temporary storage of finished products in the intensive cooling area.
  • Placement of goods in storage locations based on internal requirements and the client’s procedures.
  • Order picking according to customer requirements.
  • Verification of order accuracy.
  • Inventory management.
  • Quality control of finished products, raw materials and ingredients.Solvo.WMS integrates with other software and hardware warehouse’s technologies. Data is exchanged with other internal systems regarding the receipt of products in the finished goods warehouse and the dispatch of materials to production from the raw materials warehouse..The shelf life of each product is automatically verified during both receiving and order picking.. When assembling orders, Solvo.WMS automatically updates the inventory parameters upon expiration of the shelf life or when moving goods to a designated area of the warehouse. The system also automates the tracking of customer requirements for products, including their shelf lives, batches, assembly preferences, and other parameters. Additionally, it allows for order modifications after the picking process has begun. A multi-order picking method is also implemented using special algorithms in Solvo.WMS, which we discussed in previous posts.
