Solvo and Sogester Support Medical Rehabilitation Center in Angola

A shared mission of care —

At the start of 2020, Solvo and its client Sogester S.A. — a terminal operator in Angola and joint venture between APM Terminals and Gestor de Fundos of Angola — joined forces on a charitable initiative. While implementing Solvo.TOS at the port terminal, the partners decided to also invest in the community by equipping the Neurosurgical Center in Luanda with new computer equipment.

Grand Opening of the Upgraded Center

On July 10, the reconstructed rehabilitation wing of the Hydrocephaly Neurosurgical Center officially reopened. The ceremony was attended by:

  • Ermelindo da Silva, Minister of Health, Talatona District
  • Baptista Joao Monteiro, National Director of Human Resources (MINSA)
  • Frans Jol, General Director of Sogester
  • Natalia Dragan, CEO of Solvo Europe B.V.

High-Tech Donations for Better Care

Together, Solvo and Sogester donated a high-performance ASOM-4 surgical microscope to the clinic, enhancing the quality and precision of brain surgery performed at the facility. Solvo also contributed new computer equipment to help modernize medical processes and record-keeping.

Expanded Facilities for Patients

The renovated rehabilitation block now includes:

  • 5 patient wards
  • 1 consultation room
  • 4 bathrooms
  • 1 kitchen
  • A new pharmacy and lavatory area

At present, 10 patients and their mothers are already benefiting from the upgraded facilities, with capacity to accommodate even more in the future.

Looking Ahead

Solvo is proud to support access to quality medical care in Angola and hopes that this contribution will improve patient outcomes and support healthcare professionals in their daily work.
